Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is all set to add another feather to her already loaded cap. The former Miss World will be bestowed with the inaugural Meryl Streep Award for Excellence at the first Women in Film and Television (WIFT) India Award. The award ceremony, established to honour the best female talent in Bollywood and Hollywood, will take place in Washington DC on September 8. Apart from Aishwarya, director Zoya Akhtar and Janhvi Kapoor, among others, will also be honoured at the event.

Tara Sutaria has opted out of the Hindi remake of the Telugu blockbuster ARJUN REDDY starring Shahid Kapoor in the titular role due to STUDENT OF THE YEAR 2 commitments. The extensive shooting of SOTY 2 has pushed the release date to next year and hence she couldn’t keep up her commitment with ARJUN REDDY and has parted ways with the film. The makers will announce the new lead actress soon.

Not too long ago we had broken the story about how Jacqueline Fernandez is going to be the leading lady opposite Kartik Aaryan in the remake of the superhit Kannada film KIRIK PARTY; now, there has been an official confirmation of the same. The yet UNTITLED film is directed by Abhishek Jain and produced by Dheeraj Wadhawan, Ajay Kapoor of Kyta Productions and Vrithika Laykar and goes on floors this October.

STREE which has been a hit at the box-offices all over, has got its sequel in the works already. The sequel is going to be connected to the first part and in a way is going to be a spin-off of sorts. The main cast of the first part is expected to be retained in the second as well and there can be a few additions expected as well. The sequel can be expected to roll sometime next year. STREE released last week on 31st August and stars Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor and is drected by Raj and Dk and produced by Dinesh Vijan.

Ashish Singh, who was the Vice President, Production, YRF has now been appointed as the CEO of Balaji Motion Pictures, where he will be heading the film arm of Balaji.

Nikkhil Advani becomes the latest filmmaker to venture in the digital sphere with a web show MOGHULS. The series is an
adaptation of a novel, Empire Of The Moghul, written by Alex Rutherfood; the historical and fictional tale of the Babur to Aurangzeb rule, will be presented on the web with a cast of Shabana Azmi, Ronit Roy and Dia Mirza, leading the pack. They’ve already completed a schedule of it in Jaipur and will now move to Karjat to continue the shoot.

After the success of Satyamev Jayate, Anand Pandit has again teamed up with Panorama Studios and acquired the All India theatrical rights for the Shahid Kapur starrer Batti Gul Meter Chalu. The film which has been directed by Shree Narayan Singh, stars Shahid Kapoor, Shraddha Kapoor, Yami Gautam and Divyendu Sharma among others. The film is produced by T-Series and Virendrra Arora in association with Krti Pictures and releases on  21st September, 2018.

Shahid Kapoor and Mira Rajput have become parents for the second time. Mira gave birth to a boy at a hospital in Mumbai this past week, on September 5. We at Super Cinema wish the couple heartiest congratulations on the arrival of their second baby.

The Salman Khan and Anushka Sharma starrer SULTAN has under-performed in China; film manages to collect only $ 4.5 million (32.5 cr) total in week one. With collections remaining low, the overall performance of SULTAN at the China box office has been underwhelming.
