The film is a spoof about spy’s and espionage thrillers and secret agents films on the lines of ‘James Bond’, ‘Airplane’, ‘Naked Gun series’, and ‘Hotshots’ and ‘Bean’series. And we had some IS Johar starring films in the seventies of this genre. Ayub Khan playing an Ambassador in Fiji is kidnapped and the Indian Intelligence Agency RAW led by Tinnu Anand who assigns the case to his assistant played by Vijay Raaz who has a strong dislike for his superior and when he is asked to assign a senior secret agent duo Santa Banta , he spots a completely innocent Punjabi Sardar duo down on their luck and they are absolute airheads and they are packed off to Fiji to rescue the Ambassador and in Fiji they are helped by their local agents Cutie (Lisa Haydon) and Sanjay Mishra who help them and Santa Banta after a hilarious escapades one after another which are howlarious and literally has the audience laughing in the aisles and the lines written are very well acted by a boisterous Boman Irani playing Santa and a unknowingly restrained but extremely funny Banta played by Veer Das who are the best part of the film. Neha Dhupia signs in a brief role. Ram Kapoor as the villain is funny and menacing too. Johnny Lever as the Nepali don brings the house down along with his two crazy henchmen played by Vrajesh Hirjee and Vijay Patkar. Lisa Haydon is superb. Sanjay Mishra is serious for a change and does complete justice to his role. Tinu Anand and Vijay Raaz are good. The music is good and has been well picturized on the locations of Fiji which are beautiful to say the least. Director Akashdeep Sabir has done a reasonably good job of entertaining the audience.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

This film is an interesting expose about the blood trafficking issue specifically in Haryana and the Northern hinterland. Shankar (Randeep Hooda) is the leader of the blood trafficking gang which also has his understudy who is devoted to him Rajesh (Akshay Oberoi) and along with the other gang members in cahoots with the police they have a thriving racket supplying blood to needy hospitals and patients for a hefty price . Rajesh is in love with Poonam (Piaa Bajpai) and is a good son to his parents who are unknown of his nefarious activities. Shankar is in love with a Punjabi girl (Meenakshi Dixit) with whom he has had a heartbreak and is still pining for her. Also a very dashing cop (Rajneish Duggal) is after the gang and Rajesh’s luck runs out when they get a Hiv Infected blood and the police intensifies their action against the gang and they are finally caught but Shankar bails out all his gang members by taking all the blame and gets jail but his friends are out of the police radar and Rajesh becomes an ice factory owner and names his son Shankar after his boss. The film is set in Karnal, Haryana and the language spoken is true to the terrain and Randeep Hooda, being a Jat himself does a fantastic job as Shankar. Rajesh played by Akshay Oberoi is earnest and has a great future as an actor. Piaa Bajpai is good as is Meenakshi Dixit. Rajneish Duggal does a fabulous job. Shreya Narayan, Rajendra Sethi. Pushhkar Anand, Ashutosh Kaushik, support well. There is no scope for music. The DOP has shot the film in Anurag Kashyap style and the editing is fluid. The film is meant for cinema buffs who like issue based films.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

And the trailer has managed to live up to the hype created through the buzz. The intriguing trailer starts with a message stating the serious problem of Punjab, “70% of Punjab is in drug addict. If this hasn’t stopped, Punjab will soon become like Mexico”. The trailer conveys that the plot of the film is about the problem of Drug Addiction in Punjab which is very severe and is destroying the youth. The film has an intense plot and the story which revolves around four protagonists- Tommy (Shahid Kapoor) who is a drug addict Punjabi rock star, Alia Bhatt is playing a Bihari girl who also seems somehow related to the drug mania. Her glimpses show that she is very different this time with her de-glam avatar and surely going to impress the audience.  Kareena Kapoor essaying the role of a doctor who wants to eliminate the drug addiction from Punjab. She is accompanied by a tough cop played by Diljit Dosanjh, who is debuting in Bollywood with this film. The promo also throws the light on how the drugs are trafficked in Punjab and how the whole networks works. This film seems to be another count to the list of cinema which is inspired by real life events and problems. Performances of all four lead seems impressing. Through the trailer, the film looks very appealing and it seems that it is going to create lot more ripples in coming days.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Ace comedians Boman Irani and Vir Das starrer ‘Santa Banta Pvt Ltd’ seems to be a full on entertainer through its trailer which was unveiled recently. Directed by Akashdeep, this comedy flick’s promo reminds us of funny Santa Banta jokes that we have heard and read now and then. Boman Irani as Santa and Vir Das as Banta are looking amazing in their turbaned avatars. They go to Fiji on a mission to catch a Nepali don played by another ace comedian Johnny Lever. He is as great as every time he comes onscreen. The comedy drama is all about chaos they create in this mission and how things go hay wire in a hilarious way. The movie looks like a wonderful laugh riot and what else you can expect when two comedians like Boman and Vir coming together in a film. Both of them appear to share very good comic timing and chemistry. Not to mention, the film also has Johnny Lever. The trailer gives a sneak peek to the gags and jokes that will surely make you to laugh out loud and will hint you about what film has in store. In which the grandfather (Rishi Kapoor) is the central figurehead of the family and he is almost ninety years old and his two sons (Rajit Kapoor and Vikram Kapadia) and his two grandsons (Sidharth Malhotra (Arjun) and Fawad Khan (Rahul)) and their mother (Ratna Pathak Shah) who come together for once in spite of their differences to celebrate the birthday of the eldest Kapoor. The two grandsons woo the same girl Tia (Alia Bhatt) and fight over her but the real bone of contention is a novel that is written by Fawad which is a bestseller but was actually based on an idea by Sidharth. The film is full of the grandpa’s hilarious antics and his will to live. There is a massive sub-plot of infidelity to contend with as well. How after all these individual problems and issues the Kapoor family still comes together and stays together forms the eventual crux of the movie.

Director Shakun Batra has made a good film and will appeal to the family audiences. Batra shows immense maturity in key scenes and sequences and is the big winner of the movie. Rishi Kapoor is the life and soul of the film and his joie de vivre is the highlight of the film. Sidharth Malhotra really shows his range as an actor and is at his natural best. Fawad is serious and appealing and his performance peaks in the second and third act of the movie. Ratna Pathak Shah delivers a superb performance as does Rajat Kapoor. Alia Bhatt is her usual bubbly self and her enthusiasm is infectious and is a breath of fresh air. Vikram Kapadia is good. The DOP Jeffrey Bierman has captured the beautiful locations of Coorg with a moving hand held camera and especially the interiors of the Kapoor house look good with pleasing frames. The music by various artists is good and matches the mood of the film perfectly. 15 years ago, Dharma Productions made KABHIE KUSHI KABHIE GHAM which was also about loving your family regardless of their shortcomings and Shakun Batra does the same with KAPOOR AND SONS all these years later.

At the box-office, the movie has taken a good initial. And the word of mouth for the movie is really strong and that will help the movie get to a good eventual total.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

Directed by: Sabbir Khan
Starring: Tiger Shroff and Shraddha Kapoor

The high octane trailer of Baaghi is out and Tiger Shroff is back in his second outing once again with Sabbir Khan, the director of his hit debut movie ‘Heropanti‘. The trailer starts with a narration by Sia (Shraddha Kapoor) introducing herself and Ronny (Tiger Shroff) both as rebels and falling for  each other. Ronny looks like an untrained fighter who goes to the land of scenic Kerala to learn combat fighting. But he and his trainer don’t seem to be on the same page initially. Ronny appears to be overconfident, arrogant and uninterested in the training centre while on the other hand his trainer seems to be an equally daunting master to him. But things evolve between them and Ronny is seen doing some intense training sessions with his master to take up against the person who has abducted Sia. The USP of the movie are the exotic locations and jaw-dropping action stunts by the lead pair and they both seem to be in complete rampage mode bashing up people here and there. The villain looks like a surprise package, definitely a new talent to watch out for. He surely does look like a match for the stunt-loving Tiger Shroff and in the trailer he is seen doing some cool martial art stuffs. The trailer showcases that the movie will be a hardcore action movie where we will be witnessing a new screen couple, junior Shroff and Shradhha (in a never seen before avatar) romancing each other in a totally different and rebellious way.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

The film is a bit sleazy and laden with erotic sexy sequences but the topic which it handles is grave and that is of women afflicted with the sexual syndrome of nymphomania which makes a woman addicted to sex and she is ready to go to all lengths to derive her sexual gratification. Komolika Sarkar is a beautiful teacher who joins a college and later becomes the counselor for students who are sex starved and she seduces her boy students to give her sexual pleasure by blackmailing them with their sex videos. But her husband (Adi Irani) helps one of these students by telling him about her past when she was always a cool frigid woman and uninterested in sex which made him almost give her divorce but Komalika’s friend helps her to understand the needs of husbands and men and she helps her come out and how then she makes her husband happy but insists on a divorce and makes him land in jail and breaks his leg with the hwlp of goons. Komalika finally lands in a mad house where a court suggests therapy for her. The film is good in parts and Komalika has played her role very well where the rest of the students also acquit themselves very well. Vijay Aidasani, Sheila Vaz Sharma, Prithvi Zutshi, Adi Irani, Mushtaque Khan, support very well. There is no scope for music. Director Jayprakash Shaw has handled a very difficult subject with great maturity. A good film though with bold sequences.

But Rani manages to keep it quiet with a sympathetic cop and the help of the hotel staff where she is raped and then eliminates all her rapists college friends till the real truth is found with the help of a tough cop who saves Rani from Eva. The film is an edge of the seat thriller with many gruesome sequences and is definitely not for the fainthearted.

The film has the gripping intensity of films like ‘I spit on Your Grave’ and ‘Insaaf Ka Taraazu’ and ‘Lipstick’. Alisha Seema Khan is a good find and makes a good debut. The rest of the cast is adequate. Arvind Rathod is okay. Vikas Shrivastava as the investigating officer Pandit is very good. The DOP Jennifer Lucien has filmed some classic thrilling sequences and deserves kudos. The music by Chirantan Bhatt and Jayesh Gandhi is very good.  The editing is razzle dazzle. All in all, a good thriller.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
