This week sees the release of one of, if not the MOST anticipated film of the year in AVENGERS: ENDGAME. The hype that has been built up around this film is just unreal. The tickets for the film went on sale last Sunday (6 days before it released), and people went berserk. Tickets were hard to find hours after the booking opened. I wouldn’t have believed this if I hadn’t seen it with my own eyes. So I just woke up at around 7 am on a Sunday. I just took my phone to check notifications and stuff and there I see a notification saying the bookings for AVENGERS: ENDGAME is now open. I opened the app to see the availability and everything; majority of the theatres, especially multiplexes were already 60% sold out. 7 am, on a Sunday, tickets for the film were already sold out.

The demand to see the film was so much that around the same midweek (Tuesday, I think), additional shows of the film were announced. As if it weren’t enough either, midnight screenings of the film were announced as well. Yes, audiences can now go to see the film at 3.30 am. I don’t remember the last time a film was this hyped up. The shows are literally happening around the clock for this one. Even the 3.30 am shows are going house full, which just shows the audiences’ dedication to watch this film.

The film looks likely to have the highest day one that is seen for any film, ever. The weekend slot for the film is completely house full. So many people to watch the film probably had to buy these tickets in ‘black’. I don’t remember the last time any film in India had its tickets sold in black. In fact, so many theatre and ticketing websites crashed because of the traffic on their servers.

The film’s hype is not only limited to India, but it is worldwide. If the reports are to be believed, then AVENGERS: ENDGAME could become the first film to have almost $1 BILLION opening worldwide. THAT is just crazy.

Another great thing that has happened is that despite the film being pirated already, the fans have come out in support of the film and its makers and this hasn’t hampered any excitement among the fans either as the tickets still seem to be hard to find.

We might be in the ENDGAME now, but for the film, it certainly is a start of something beautiful.
