‘Malaal’ will mark the acting debut of Sanjay Leela Bansali’s neice Sharmin Segal and Javed Jaffrey’s son Meezan Jaffrey. ‘Malaal’ in english basically means ‘Regret’. The trailer has showcased a love story of two people who fall in love but with the twist of not liking each other at first. The curly haired Astha played by Sharmin faces a lot of opposition from the popular lad Shiva played by Meezaan. His dialogues in the promo depict that. But eventually, the two fall for each other, and it promises to be a love story in its core. The posters look interesting. Here are some factors that we believe will work in its favour.

The story as shown in the trailer revolves around a Maharashtrain boy and north Indian girl. They seem to have a bitter sweet relationship as Meezan seems to give a nativist vibe. But as the time passes they do fall in love with each other and face a lot of obstacles. But it remains to see how they fight the differences and come out as one. The trailer seems intriguing and well presented. The aspect of it being shot in an actual chawl is eye catching and the youth seems excited for the release.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali is known for his epic sagas and the grandeur he brings out in every movie he presents. He is going to be launching two new faces Sharmin Segal and Meezan Jaffrey who is son of Javed Jaffrey, as he produced this film. He has personally trained his neice Sharmin and Meezan for cameras. ‘Malaal’ is helmed by Mangesh Hadawale and it is produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Bhushan Kumar, Mahaveer Jain and Krishan Kumar. Sanjay Leela Bhansali has himself mentored Meezan and Sharmin.

The genre of the movie plays a major part to attract the audience and obviously how well is the trailer presented – is another aspect. Love stories with newcomers have always seemed to work, or perhaps, love stories have always been a great genre to launch newbies. We can pick out many examples of that – ever since the 80s and 90s. Hence, this one can be expected to strike a chord with the viewers – it being a fresh love story with fresh faces.

The songs of the film have already made its way to the audience. ‘Aila Re’ seems to have made its way and is being loved by the audiences the most. All other songs released are loved by the audience. BuzzBollywood Trade Magazine
