This film is a very good musical romantic comedy spurred by the spirited performance of Parineeti Chopra   backed by the ever dependable Ayyushman Khurana. The film is set in Kolkata after the magical World cup win of The Indian Cricket team in 1983 when Bindu walks into the life of Abhimanyu Roy. Bindu’s parents are divorced and Bindu’s father (Prakash Belwadi) has no time for the child Bindu who seeks solace in Hindi film songs of RD Burman and Bappi Lahiri and has a zest for life and enjoying the good things of life. Abhimanyu is a prospective writer and writes pulp stories which make him a sought after writer but now he has run into a writer’s block and so he devotes his next novel after two years based on the whirlwind relationship between him and Bindu. The film has a backdrop of all good Hindi songs which soothe you and the Bengali family backdrop makes interesting viewing. But unfortunately Bindu only seeks a soul-mate in Abhimnanyu who is ardently in love with her but she marries someone else and breaks Abhimanyus heart. The film is well directed by debutant Akshay Roy and has been written well too with interesting motifs like the radio blaring Hindi film songs, etc. Though it has shades of Julia Roberts ‘Runaway Bride’.  Sachin- Jigars music is very good and their remix of golden oldies is really very good. The cinematography is slick and colorfully razzle dazzle capturing the beautiful locations of Kolkata.  Parineeti Chopra is the life and soul of the film and Ayyushman Khurana complements her very well.  The rest of the Bengali cast members are a spirited lot and look wonderful on screen. Prakash Belwadi is impressive.  A good romantic musical comedy.
