Neha Kakkar who has had a great year in terms of the music she has produced and all the recognition that has garnered, talks to us about her experiences and also how she owes it to her fans and as she would like to call them – ‘Neharts’. She also talks to us about the trends in the music industry and how good things are happening in the industry. Excerpts:

You started out with a reality show. It’s been quite a journey. How do you see it?

Life has been one big roller coaster ride for me. The highs and lows have a great learning experience. I’ve worked very hard to be where I am today and this has been possible only because of my nehearts and my parents’ blessings and my family’s unconditional support.

What trend do you see this year, with respect to the music in films?

Of course remakes and recreated songs are huge these days. But also slowly and steadily non-film music is coming back in a big way and I am very happy about this.

How has this year been for you in terms of the songs you’ve had and also the singles?

By God’s grace, this year has been amazing with hits like Dilbar, Aashiq Banaya Apne, Chhote Chhote Peg, Bhangda Ta Sajda, Morni Banke, Dholida. As far as singles are concerned, this year has been very kind with big hits like Oh Humsafar, La La La Song and Nikle Currant which is the latest to top all charts.

How have you evolved as a singer over the years?

Well, over the years I feel I have definitely grown. With every experience in my life I have used that to better myself as a person and as a professional.

Which have been your favourite songs this year?

Dil Diyaan Gallan, Tera Yaar Hoon Main, Bum Diggy

Is it the techniques or the style of music, what’s the best part of the music industry today?

The best part I would say is that today the listeners have become really smart. They enjoy different genres and not only film songs. There is something being made for everyone.

Also, how has the music industry changed since then?

The music industry is constantly evolving with each passing day. Different melodies, different sounds are being created and recreated. Of course the influx of talent is two folds than what it used to be.

Tell us about your upcoming songs?

A massive film song in November and my solo single called Dil Chahiye in November 2nd week and many more!

What is it that’s always been a challenge for you?

The challenge is to out do your own previous work and constantly reinvent yourself and not allow yourself to stagnate.
