Opening Day Collection

‘Phillauri’ is a rom-com film and has already created a sense of excitement in people. We can see Anushka Sharma in a role of ghost which is very different from her regular ones. The film sets out to show you how the two worlds merge via one spirit. The film is released under the banner of Fox studios and Clean Slate which is Anushka’s production. The film is slated to release on 24 March,17.

Trailer

As we see the trailer it begins with Suraj Sharma being declared maangu and needs to marry a tree. However a ghost stuck in the tree aka Anushka Sharma starts to haunt him as he is married to her now. She is a friendly spirit but when asked her about any remaining desires due to which she is around the tree. That is when the different side of the film is seen and we go to flash back. There we see Diljit as Anushka’s lover who is a singer and all those things later change and bring Sashi (Anushka) to the real world now.

Cast

The cast is very refreshing and unseen before. Suraj Sharma was last seen in the film ‘Life of Pi’ where he received a good response for his acting and now we see him here in a character who is maanglik and unknowingly married to a ghost. Here we see him in a very comic role. Anushka is a very friendly ghost here she looks etheral and also due to VFX it gives her a halo effect. Diljit is a known actor in Punjab and have done great roles in Punjabi cinema as well as in Bollywood. He is seen playing role of a singer in ‘Phillauri’. The cast gives a fresh energy to the film which attracts the viewers.

Music

‘Phillauri’ has a fresh soulful album. The song ‘Dum Dum’ and ‘Sahiba’ both songs have a folk appeal attached to them and suite the times they are set into. Anita has penned down the songs beautifully. Also just when you wonder why Diljit has not sung for himself and then you get a reprise version of ‘Dum Dum’ sung by him. Naughty Billing is the most underwhelming song of the album. Since they offer large range of songs and half of them are sung in Punjabi.
