Veeru Devgan, one of Hindi film industry’s most famous action and stunt choreographer, and Ajay Devgn’s father sadly passed away this past week on the 27th of May. He hadn’t been keeping well for a while now but sadly old age made his health worse. This news comes as a real shock and fills everyone in the industry with utmost sadness as we have lost one of the biggest legendary behind the scenes icons of the industry.

Veeruji had directed action sequences for films like HIMMATWALA, MR. INDIA, KHATRON KE KHILADI, PHOOL AUR KAANTE, DILWALE and LAAL BADSHAH amongst others. He even acted in three film and worked as a director on HINDUSTAN KI KASAM. He was a self taught action-director. Ever since his first film he proved his worth and showed the industry what he was capable of. We would rarely see him repeating the same stunts he used in one film in a different film. After he was done with a scene, it would seem so genuine that no one would be able to say that the whole thing was staged. He was natural at it and it was his talent to make it look natural.

Another thing that made Veeruji the legend that he is that he never stopped learning. Every day he learned and improved things he any way he could. Not only that, while on sets he also learned about other aspects of filmmaking, be it directing or cinematography. As hard and as tough that his stunts looked on screen, he was exactly the opposite in nature. Soft and ever so humble! He was warm and always ready to help anyone he could and who would take his help.

He will not only be remembered for his work but also for the generous man that he was. He cared for all his fighters and made sure that they get the money they deserve. That’s just one example out of a lot of things that epitomizes the man that he was. While he was suffering a lot with his ailments the last few years of his life, I honestly hope and pray that he does rest in peace now. His death is a real loss for the industry. He was one of the gems of the industry and has now become one of the stars in the sky always shining upon us. My deepest condolences to Ajay Devgn, Kajol and the whole family and they are in our thoughts and prayers.
