Interview By: Hasti Doshi

Rishi Rich and Juggy are renowned for their fusion of international sounds. We caught up conversation with them regarding their upcoming project for ‘Behen Hogi Teri’. They have collaborated earlier during ‘Hum Tum’ and now after long they have again came together to unroll the magic of music. Let us see what experience they had for working after long. Read on…

Tell us the whole process of music formation and then releasing it for ‘Behen Hogi Teri’.

Rishi: Yeah so the process was I was forming the music few months ago and I started to work with Amul Mohan and I hit bunch of track and he found a lot of great stuff  and he loved. Then we scripted down the three tracks and one of it being “Jaanu”. Then I thought why we don’t get Juggy on it, so that’s how it happened.

Working for different projects every time and yet is able to keep that difference in terms of technicalities, how do you make it happen even for this film?

Rishi: It’s been great always. I get to do different kind of music and it’s never planned that I will get projects back to back. But I am excited that I got two films back to back and both have different kind of music.

Juggy: For me watching Rishi for long fifteen years, we have a very close relationship and we are like family. Since, he moved to Mumbai he had lot of projects that were kind of similar things and we got a long time and I need to come over for that. He told me I need to come over as I had a couple of projects to get involved in and Amul wanted me to have my voice. The song that they first mentioned was Jaanu Meri Jaan and I heard that song and it is such a classic song from 80’s. There was no way I had to recreate this track so I was on it to give the song which has so much of presence in Bollywood industry already.

Both of you have collaborated earlier for ‘Hum Tum’. How did it help you individually through all these years? How was it working together again?

Juggy: Yes, we initially started fifteen years ago. We started doing solo work and did my solo album, solo single and the first song that went for the film was ‘Nachna Tere Naal’ but the biggest crossover we did was obviously ‘Hum Tum’ and that was probably the biggest music track we did back then. And it was great together because back then we did ‘Hum Tum’, ‘Nachna Tere Naal’ and ‘Boom’ then we also did ‘Kya Cool Hai Hum’ and you know that sort of gave us a great mark in Bollywood industry and everyone kind of knew who Rishi Rich, Jay Sean, Veronica, Juggy D are and became like household names. So it gave us a great platform and we cord well. Now that we are back here people are excited that Rishi moved back to Mumbai even before releasing the song. They were ready for that sound again and obviously we have a great talent in India and so many great singers and producers. After a while, everybody wants something different and that’s what we are bringing back. We have sort of that international flavor and that UK vibe with Indian voice and people love it and track have been received very well. Even the ‘Half Girlfriend’ track that Rishi did is received well.

Rishi: I started a couple of years before Juggy, we were friends and then we got to work together for films and solo and everything like a family. Then everyone joined like Anushka then one more friend from Abu Dhabi so we have that connection and I think people like us working together, they know what they can expect which is something cool. In film ‘Behen Hogi Teri’ the track Jaanu is really Rishi and Juggy track.

As the music of ‘Behen Hogi Teri’ is receiving appreciation already, how do you feel?

Juggy: When we were at the media launch for ‘Behen Hogi Teri’ the reaction to the song was amazing as they groove on the music. It was played for 55 minutes back to back and the whole team and staff  and audience were all dancing to the songs and it was crazy to see that as they loved it. It is a great feeling as when you put your heart and soul into something and it achieves so well it just makes you feel good about the music you know.

What kind of music are you planning further for your audience?

Juggy- There is lot of new stuff  coming and we have done a song for ‘Mubarakan’ which is coming soon and a solo project with Rishi, then we got some movies lined up. So there is lot of coming from our team, from Rishi and also from me.

Rishi: So I have already done three tracks for ‘Behen Hogi Teri’ and people really love the vibes. Then I have ‘Mubarakan’ coming up which is commercial and Juggy, Badshah, Yash, Sukriti are there. Then I am doing three songs for ‘Pal Pal Dil Ke Pas’ and involved in Gully Boys too. That’s all confi rmed stuff which I am working on.
