SOORMA is an inspiring true story of Sandeep Singh, Indian Hockey Player; the film takes us through his journey, his struggles, pain and his comeback to the game and becoming a legend of the sport. This story is a triumph of the human spirit, about a player who made headlines for his miraculous comeback after an unfortunate accident through sheer determination, hard work and unrelenting passion for the sport. Diljit Dosanjh plays the role of former Indian Hockey Team’s Captain Sandeep Singh and Taapsee Pannu as a women hockey player and his love interest in the film, along with them there is Angad Bedi who plays his elder brother Bikram Singh. The trailer looks good and gives a glimpse that it’s a film that surely has all the potential to inspire many young sportsmen.


Biopics generate a lot of curiousity among cinegoers considering they know the person in question. They also are inspiring more often than not and are always fun and SOORMA is also based on the life of an inspiring sportsman Sandeep Singh. In the past we have seen many films like M.S.Dhoni, Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, Dangal and many more which not only did brilliant business at the box-office but were also liked by the audiences and we critically acclaimed. The trailer of SOORMA gives us an idea that this is also a very inspiring film.


The central character of the film is being played by the powerhouse of talent Diljit Dosanjh, he looks brilliant in the trailer and can easily become a career defining film for him in the Hindi film industry. He was appreciated earlier in ‘Udta Punjab’. Taapsee Pannu looks amazing and the chemistry between the two actors is wonderful and then there is Angad Bedi who plays the role of Bikram Singh, Sandeep Singh’s elder brother and he fits the character very well.


The music of the film is given by the brilliant trio of Shankar- Ehsaan- Loy and lyrics are penned by the incredible Gulzar. Already the song, Ishq Di Baajiyaan, a soulful track from the film, has crossed over 15 millions views online and the Soorma Anthem sung by the Shankar Mahadevan and penned by Gulzar has been viewed by 8.4 million people online so far.
