THE 2ND ABU INTERNATIONAL DANCE FESTIVAL ORGANIZED
The 2nd Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) International Dance Festival held at hotel Taj Palace Hotel New Delhi on 9th March 2019, was a grand success. The International Dance festival took off in time with Indian performance by Bickram Ghosh, one of the India’s greatest Tabla maestros. He is the pioneering force of fusion music. Ghosh brought ,”The dance of Shiva” an electrifying fusion experience on the stage.
The composition was rendered by the top most drummers in India ,showcasing as to how music is an essential back drop of a successful dance performance. Ghosh’s performance was highly lauded by the audience. This was followed by the dance performances by various countries like Malaysia, Indonesia, Fiji, Maldives, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. The performance given by each country was lauded by the audience.
The number of performers in each dance was varying from minimum two (couple) from Fiji to maximum number from the host country , India. The dance performance from Fiji by the couple was very interesting as it had two Indian popular songs. It drew special applaud. The last dance performance was from India from Lok Chhanda, an institution dedicated to the preservation and promotion of the traditional dance and music of India. Lok Chhanda celebrated India’s rich cultural heritage , combining the rustic folk elements from the un adulterated hinterlands of the country. It was a specular scene to watch all the 120 dance performers dancing all together on the stage at one time. The concluding dance performance by all the 120 dancers was splendid and drew maximum applaud. It got standing ovation, when people went on clapping till their fill. The entire programme was very smooth. Even when all the 120 dancers were dancing , not even a single dancer clashed against any one. The compering of the entire programme by Jainendra and Geetika was excellent. The progamme ended in time, when everybody left for the dinner, organized by Prasar Bharti , in a very pleasant and jovial mood .
