This past week, we at Super Cinema had a great opportunity to catch next week’s release TUMBBAD in a preview. The movie will not only surprise the audiences but also leaving a telling impact as well. This fantasy horror movie has a lot of things working for it and at the same time the makers have really knocked out the atmospheric feel of the movie perfectly. Looks like folks are Eros International and Colour Yellow Productions have got a sleeper film up their sleeve.

Last week we were the first ones to reveal that actress Deepika Padukone is turning a producer and joining hands with filmmaker Meghna Gulzar for her next film. The same news was officially announced this past week as well. But now we know that Fox Star Studios has stepped in as well as will be the studio backing the project which is based on an acid survivor and the filming is going to begin by February next year. 

Shraddha Kapoor this past week was diagnosed with dengue due to which the shooting of her recently launched Saina Nehwal bio-pic has stalled. For the part Shraddha had undergone extensive preparation including learning badminton. The actress even took the help of real life of Saina Nehwal to get well versed with the sport. Director Amole Gupte had to rework on the shooting schedule and is now canning the portions with child actor who plays the younger Saina in the film.

After Illuminati Films, Saif Ali Khan has now launched a new banner Black Knight Films. In association with Jay Shewakramani’s Northern Lights Films, Saif Ali Khan has locked his first film under the banner – titled JAWANI JAANEMAN which will be directed by Nitin Kakkar. The said film will be a family comedy revolving around the relationship of a 40 year old man and his daughter. While Saif plays the role of the protagonist, the actress who will be playing the role of his daughter is yet to be finalized. Film is expected to go floors mid next year.


Abhay Deol has been roped in for a sports bio pic JUNGLE CRY – which will be based on the life of Rugby coach Rudraksh Jena. Sagar Ballary of BHEJA FRY fame will helm the film. Which will be produced by Shabbir Boxwala and Prashant Shah. Rudraksh Jena, was a Rugby coach based in Bhubaneshwar, who had trained the rugby team of Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences which ended up walking away victorious at the International School Rugby Tournament in London in 2007. The story gained national prominence because the team involved tribal boys from areas such as Jharkhand, Mayurbhanj and Bhubaneshwar.

It is reliably learnt that this past week Varun Dhawan shot for a special cameo in Salman Khan’s BHARAT in Abu Dhabi. The details for now have not been disclosed but it has been asserted that the two stars definitely have scenes together. Ali Abbas Zafar directs the  remake of the Korean drama ODE TO MY FATHER. BHARAT opens during Eid 2019 and co-stars Katrina Kaif, Disha Patani, Tabu, and Jackie Shroff in prominent roles.

According to the buzz, Shashank Khaitan’s next directorial venture RANNBHOOMI has reportedly been pushed ahead for now as the film requires a lot more planning and research. Shashank in the meanwhile will kick-start work on a spy thriller which will star Varun Dhawan in the lead. Varun has given a nod to the film which will be backed by Dharma. It is expected to go on floors mid 2019. Rest of the other details are being worked upon watch this space for more on this.
