Salman Khan was in a quandary after the debacle of Tubelight but he has now fulfilled the faith in him as the industry’s No.1 star who has the pull at the box-office to gross the largest opening in the three days of its release with ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ a sequel to his earlier hit ‘Ek Tha Tiger, this one albeit directed by Ali Abbas Zafar for Yash Raj Films and producer Aditya Chopra. The movie had already started creating a buzz since its announcement and broke many records when the trailer was released; and as expected its opening day collections stood out to around 30 crores and the overseas collections have yet to be recorded where it has been released in many theaters across the globe. The grand locations of Syria, Iraq, and other places are easy on the eye and make you marvel at the DOP’s work. The music too is catching on. The film looks set to gross 100 crores easily in the first five days and then with the grand Christmas holidays , the business will get a boost and the film will easily enter the 200 crore club. Also the Salman Khan factor has worked again negating the debacle of Tubelight. This augurs well for the industry which has not had a super hit really other than Fukrey in the last few months and the trade was banking on the success of Tiger Zinda Hai which means a Good Christmas and a Good New Year for the trade. It means the Salman Khan–Katrina Kaif pairing will be a hit at the box office. It also means that the audience won’t accept a Salman we saw in Tubelight but a full muscle toned action star in the fray again with his fights against the many fighters in the film and his thrilling stunts which really make you wonder about this dynamo of an actor. There are not many other major releases in the New Year except Akshay Kumar’s ‘Padman’ which releases on 26th January 2018, which is a Republic day holiday week but till then Tiger would have mauled every other film at the box-office. The Bhaijaan is back again and with a vengeance. His forthcoming film will be sold on announcement and the makers will easily make a profit on the table. The credit also goes to YRF for believing in Salman in his lean period and for promoting the film in a huge way. Let’s hope that this association gives us more hits like Tiger Zinda Hai. Tiger Tiger Burning Bright!
