The success of ‘MS DHONI- AN UNTOLD STORY’ made the audiences eagerly wait for Sushant Singh Rajput’s next ‘RAABTA’, along with Kriti Sanson, created a buzz about the film but after the trailer launch and the release of the film, it did not do well due to lack of content, direction, the film story deals with reincarnation despite its fondness for modern clothes, gadgets and locations. Raabta largely struggled in creating a balance between the two time periods shown in the film, it struggled real hard over there, it lacked the finesse required to pull off a theme like this and became one of the biggest flops ever. The movie collected only 21.50 cr.

Directed by Raj & DK this movie was a quintessential Bollywood masala film, it had everything that a commercial Bollywood film has action, romance, drama, good music everything but one important thing that every movie should have that this movie lacked which was good content and energy in the plot which kept sliding and slowing . Vishal Bharadwaj next ‘RANGOON’ starring Saif Ali Khan, Shahid Kapoor and Kangana Ranaut ambitious film deeply flawed, it had became a highly anticipated movie of the year but it became a royal misfire. Both Saif and Shahid have given one of their career best performances previously when Vishal Bhadarwaj directed them but this time around it failed to make a mark, oddly written characters dint let it become an engaging watch and became one of the year’s biggest duds. The film earned only 20.75 cr.

After making a huge name in the industry as a director, Imtiaz ali join hands with Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma to create magic on celluloid, the movie was well promoted with series of mini trailers, press conferences etc. Audiences had huge expectations from the film but when it hit the screens it did not do well, the screenplay, the story was not liked by the audiences. Even with good promotion and performances by the lead cast, the film’s subject was one on which already few Bollywood movies were made in past, with same type of Rom- Com drama this film was not able to create a mark in the hearts of the audience. It was the simple boy meets girl, he climbs a tree into her room, childhood tricks turn grown up troubles and somewhere along the line friendship jumps the fence. The movie stumbled in a lot of places and found a place in the list of Total Fiasco of 2017. The movie collected only 9 cr.

Saif Ali Khan starrer ‘CHEF’ which was an official remake of American Film ‘CHEF’, created a lot of buzz just after its poster release. With a lazy and a rather uninterested narrative it took away the pleasure, it became a flavorless adaptation of the original. The movie was not able to emotionally connect the audiences and became a disaster at the box office this year. The film was able to earn only 6 cr.

This movie was the comeback film of Sanjay Dutt on celluloid, but did not do well with the audiences as again even this film’s subject deal with the same type of subject on which already film were made in the past, the age old idea that there is always a man to save a girl because she clearly seems helpless to do so otherwise, with lack of new content the film was a tragic attempt at feminism and suffered at the box office. After the success of movies like ‘Tanu Weds Manu’, ‘Tanu Weds Manu 2’ and ‘Queen’ came, Kangana Ranaut’s anticipated film ‘Simran’, the film created much buzz among the audiences.
