We can never predict the fate of movies at the box-office. At times one least expects a film to work and it does brilliantly and sometimes a film which we expect to strike gold, proves to be a disaster. 2018 has been a year of such ups and downs. Let’s look at the top 10 movies that the audiences rejected this year.

Thugs of Hindostan

There’s always immense excitement when an Aamir Khan film releases – because he takes a while to come on-screen and when he does, he brings in something worth watching always. So, there was a lot of buzz around ‘Thugs’ which had Aamiralong with Katrina Kaif, Amitabh Bachchan, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Lloyd Owen. With an ensemble like that, and the budget it was mounted on, there was a huge buzz surrounding the film. But it was bashed, critically and commercially both ways. The movie collected 140 crore which is pretty less considering its humungous budget.

Fanney Khan

Fanney Khan sure could’ve been a hit if it was executed properly. Anil Kapoor’s role and his acting was at his best. People were looking forward to ‘Fanney Khan’ ever since the cast was announced. People were excited at the thought that Anil Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao and AishwaryaRaiBachchan will come together for a film. But ‘Fanney Khan’ failed to woo the audience. The movie made life time collection of 10 cr.

Despite of it being an SRK starrer, it was one of the biggest flops of the year. While Shah Rukh Khan was appreciated for his act, the film lacked depth, and enough entertainment to keep you glued all through. The audience probably didn’t resonate with SRK in a role like this. The film earned 92 cr.

Bhavesh Joshi SUPER HERO

The film severely lacked on many counts. Director VikramadityaMotwane is known for generating some great content – like ‘Udaan’ and ‘Lootera’ in the past. So, one expected Bhavesh Joshi Super Hero to fall in the similar bracket. While critically, the film is still being appreciated, it failed to make a mark at the box-office completely. The movie made life time collection of 1.45 cr.

Namaste England

Taking the ‘Namaste London’ franchise forward, ‘Namaste England’ didn’t find acceptance amidst the audience. Was it the fact that it didn’t meet the standards of the prequel or people just didn’t enjoy this Arjun Kapoor-Parineeti Chopra starrer. The movie earned 8 crore making it one of the biggest duds of the year unfortunately.

Helicopter Eela

‘Helicopter Eela’ does appear to have a clear purpose but the delivery of the story is choppy. Helicopter Eela was a massive letdown. The movie made life time collection of 4 cr.

Coming from Neeraj Pandey’s stable, one expected ‘Aiyaary’ to meet the likes of ‘A Wednesday’, ‘Special 26’ or ‘Baby’. But this one failed to make a mark. The film earned 18 cr.

Directed by J.P. Dutta, this movie was quite interesting with the trailer that came out but was a massive disaster at the box-office. The movie collected 7.70 cr.

YamlaPaglaDeewana: Phir Se

‘YamlaPaglaDeewana: Phir Se’ sure bears the hallmarks of a loud comedy, but loses much of its steam in the second half and culminates into a predictable climax. The movie earned 9.25 cr.

Laila Majnu

Since ‘Laila Majnu’ was being presented by Imtiaz Ali, the film had the kind of vibe that Ali’s films usually do. But it failed to strike a chord with the audience on the while. The movie earned 2 cr.
