2020 changed the game for content creators worldwide when most film producers decided to sell their films straight to OTT platforms to curtail their overall losses. A lot of Indian producers also took that route cause it simply made business sense for them at the time. With major movies like LAXXMI, COOLIE NO.1, RAAT AKELI HAI, LUDO, SADAK amongst others. Now that things are opening up nationwide in terms of cinemas and all but still not all full capacity and it’s an overall waiting game for all producers who are still wanting to check how things pan out. Plus the bigger worry for the makers is that uncertainty regarding the overseas market which is still a major question mark. In a couple of months, things could get back on track but it’s going to be a while still. Keeping that in mind we are not getting information that filmmakers of the two major upcoming movies have decided to come straight to OTT. The films in question have one major factor in common, however; both the films were filmed from start to finish in the middle of the pandemic. According to our highly placed sources, the films in question are Akshay Kumar, Vaani Kapoor and Huma Qureshi starrer BELLBOTTOM, and Kartik Aaryan starrer DHAMAKA. The prices floating around for both the films are massive and it sounds like deals the makers couldn’t ignore. It will be interesting to see if more films still take the bait and continue to sell straight to the OTT platforms or will they wait and play the long game with an uncertain future!
