TADAP

Ishana (Ahan Shetty) lives in Mussoorie with his adopted father who is addressed by everyone as Daddy (Saurabh Shukla). Daddy is a close aide of Damodar Nautiyal (Kumud Mishra), a politician who is fighting the state elections. Ishana runs a theater and also helps them in their political activities. On the day of the election results, Damodar’s daughter Ramisa (Tara Sutaria) returns from UK. She spots Ishana when he’s celebrating the victory of Damodar and is attracted to him. Later, she befriends him and confesses to him. Soon they start dating and Ishana falls crazily in love with her. Ramisa tells Ishana that Damodar is compelling her to get married but assures Ishana that he will convince Damodar to change his mind and they shouldn’t meet for a few days. She kisses him and leaves and at that exact moment Damodar sees them. He and Ramisa’s grandmother decide to separate them and teach Ishana a lesson. What happens next forms the rest of the film.

TADAP is the official remake of the Telugu film RX100. The story is quite simple but Rajat Arora makes an engaging screenplay. Especially with the length of the film, which Rajat shortened on the script to give a better impact. The film also has a nice and unpredictable twist in the second half. The first half of the film is a bit slow, despite the brilliant opening, but the second half picks up the pace and makes up for an entertaining watch. All in all, this is good one to watch in theaters.

Technically the film is great. Cinematography by Ragul Herian Dharuman is good and he captures a few scenes really well. Editing by Rajesh G Pandey is fine. Writing is one of the highlights of the film as earlier said. The dialogues pack a good punch as well. The action in the film is nice and appealing. The music works more in the film with only one song really hitting the chartbuster zone which is TUMSE BHI ZYADA. The costumes are appealing as well and the production design has been done well.

Performance wise, the film is good. Ahan Shetty makes a confident debut with the film. He does have scope for improvement but does well considering this is his first film and he’ll only get better with time. Tara Sutaria has a different role in this film than her previous ones and she shines with her performance. She proves she is capable of handling bigger and better roles. Saurabh Shukla is great and Kumud Mishra is dependable as ever. The rest of the cast offer abled support.

Director Milan Lutharia keeps it simple yet entertaining.
