ANTIM: THE FINAL TRUTH is the official adaption of the hit Marathi film MULSHI PATTERN. The film follows the story of Rahul (Aayush Sharma) from being a youth to being a ruthless gangster. His father Datta Pehelwan (Sachin Khedekar) owned a land but he sold it to Shinde (Uday Tikekar) for a throwaway price, just to get his daughter married in a lavish way. After that, due to unforeseen circumstances he and his family had to move to Pune and Datta had to become a porter in the vegetable market. There, Rahul and his friend Ganya (Rohit Haldikar) get into trouble when they beat up goons of a local corporator who is taking hafta from them. They’re arrested and taken to the police station which is headed by Rajveer Singh (Salman Khan). He is a righteous officer and refuses to release them despite pleas from Dutta Pehelwan and Seema. In jail, they meet Nanya Bhai (Upendra Limaye), who is the local gangster and he takes Rahul under his wings. Eventually, he sees potential in Rahul and makes him his business partner. But one day, Satya (Mahesh Majrekar) informs him that it was Nanya Bhai who was responsible for his family’s suffering. Meanwhile, MLA Ambir (Sharad Ponkshe), arch nemesis of Nanya, tells Rahul to finish Nanya. What happens next forms the rest of the film.
The original story of the film has a lot of potential. The writers for the most part make the film live up to that. The film could have gone to great heights if it was written and treated right. But despite all that, this is a good action entertainer which touches on some important subjects, like that of the land acquisition mafia. We see a lot of it in regional films but it’s rare in Hindi films. The film gets to the point quickly and has a good start but it becomes slow in the second half. But all in all, the film is a treat for the Salman fans.
Technically, the film is good. Cinematography by Karan B Rawat is decent, but some shots are good. Editing by Bunty Nagi is fine. Music in the film is forgettable. The production design and the costume design is good. The action is superb. Writing had scope for improvement.
Performance wise, the film is good as well. Salman Khan gives an effortless performance and that is enough for his fans to go gaga in the theaters. He is a treat to watch as always. Aayush Sharma has really put in a shift with this film and it is quite evident. He does well. Mahima Makwana makes a confident debut. Mahesh Manjrekar dons several hats for this film including acting and he is dependable as ever. Sachin Khedekar gives a strong performance. The rest of the cast offer good support.
Mahesh Manjrekar executes the film well but is a bit let down by writing which had a lot of scope for improvement.
