SOORYAVANSHI tells the story of the brave ATS DCP Veer Sooryavanshi. The film begins with a narration by Singham (Ajay Devgn), who reminds us of the several terror attacks that have taken place in the city ever since 1993, and warns of a bigger threat yet to come. To prevent all this from happening, enters ATS DCP Veer Sooryavanshi (Akshay Kumar), who by any way will prevent the attack from taking place. How he does that and what happens next, form the rest of the film.

We have been waiting for this film to release for almost two years now, because of the pandemic. The film has finally been released in theaters and we’d just like to say that it was definitely worth the wait. The film is a proper mass entertainer and Rohit Shetty certainly knows what the masses want and he has delivered exactly that. The plot may seem predictable and in places it is but it is gripping and entertaining. In any super hero film, the hero does triumph over the villain, if he doesn’t there’s obviously more to come. Although you get a little side tracked with the songs and romantic sequences in the start between Akshay Kumar and Katarina Kaif. The film is filled with the right amount of emotions which really works in its favour. 

 Technically, the film is great. Cinematographer Jomon T. John captures the film’s grandeur with ease. The editing by Bunty Nagi is fine. The music is good and works well in the film. The script is well written and has been filled with all the right elements. The dialogues are nicely woven into the film and they are impactful. The background score has been used brilliantly especially the SIMMBA and SINGHAM theme when they make their entry, you are hit with nostalgia.

Performances make this a treat to watch. Akshay Kumar is a complete package in the film. He is doing action, is bringing in the fun and funny element, he is bringing in the emotions; he is doing it all and he does it effortlessly. That’s just how good he is and we can see what form he is in! Katrina Kaif has a good role to etch and she is functional. The cameos by Ranveer Singh and Ajay Devgn is just a cherry on top and they both bring their A Game. They embody their characters so well. Kumud Mishra is good. Abhimanyu Singh is fantastic. Gulshan Grover is excellent. Sikandar Kher is effective in his part. Javed Jaffrey is dependable as ever. Jackie Shroff is a very important but small role to play and he is great. The rest of the cast offer good support.  

Director Rohit Shetty entertains us as usual. He is a man in form who knows what his audiences want and he delivers exactly that. He ticks all the necessary boxes with his direction and doesn’t put a foot wrong.
