Veteran actor Jagdeep Ji passed away
One of the finest comedians of Indian film industry Jagdeep Ji passed away on 8th July 2020. Jagdeep Ji appeared in around 400 films but it is his role as Soorma Bhopali in 1975 film Sholay that is etched in audiences’ minds even today.
Jagdeep was mostly seen in comic roles. He also featured in a few Ramsay Brothers horror films including Purana Mandir. His work in films like Qurbani and Shehenshah is also noteworthy.
Jagdeep started his career as a child artiste in Laila Majnu and was seen in films like Bimal Roy’s Do Bigha Zamin, KA Abbas’ Munna and Guru Dutt’s Aar Paar. In a career spanning over six decades, he acted in over 400 films.
Jagdeep Ji also took the director’s chair when he made the film Soorma Bhopali in 1988, which was a spin on his own character from Sholay. He played the central character here. Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Rekha made cameo appearances in Soorma Bhopali.
Jagdeep Saab was one of the greatest actors of India and his iconic performances will forever be etched in the hearts and minds of all whom has seen him perform. He was one of his kind and we at Super Cinema offer our condolences to the bereaved family.
